MPC1000 freezes when trying to load samples off CF card

Hi,

I picked up an MPC1000 from a thrift store for 25 bucks, along with 3 CF cards with samples on them. The device powered on fine but none of the pads worked. I ordered some "keypad fix" goop and applied it to the pads. I then loaded JJOS on it and it worked fine... for one day. Then next day it froze while loading samples off a CF card, and from then on it would freeze every time I tried loading anything off any CF card. I tried all three, same issue.

I ordered a new CF card connector and installed it, same issue. At this point I'm tempted to buy a hard drive kit and load samples that way, but I'm worried there might be something else wrong with the thing, and maybe the hard drive won't work either.

Are there any other tests or diagnostics I can try? Or should I just get the hard drive adapter? Thanks!

All 3 cards it came with suddenly stopped working at the same time so I don't think it' the cards. I replaced the CF card connector inside the MPC1000 so it can't be bent pins either. Are there any diagnostics built into JJOS I can try running?
