I need help w/ midi between my Casio CZ101 and MPC1000

i have a CZ101 synth..it has no sequencer..and i connected its midi out to the midi in of the mpc..this is where im lost..im not sure if the mpc will do what i want to do as far as recording anything im playin on the cz101 as a track...can ANYBODY guide me through making sure everything is hooked up and how i can record what i play through the mpc as a track..thanks

are you trying to get AUDIO or PERFORMANCE DATA?

audio being the actual sounds

or performance data being the keys that were pressed, i.e. you can edit what keys are pressed when?

if you want audio, you must use audio cables into the record in, or perhaps SPDIF in if your setup supports it.

if you want performance data, you must use a MIDI cable.

Yeah i have a midi cable goin from my Casio CZ101's midi out to the midi in of my MPC..on the midi/sync page i have recieve channel - all and soft thru as track..

also on the main page i have the drum track turned into midi..i cant get any sound of my synth to play..only thing i can get is the samples of a program playin on my syth..which i dont want..i just wanna be able to play my synth as a track in a sequence.

NOW YOU GOT TO GO FROM THE MIDI IN ON THE MPC TO THE MIDI OUT ON THE SYNTH
