what they mean buy adjusting the layer is by adding or changing it properties on the fly. this can be down to changing the TUNE(speed), effect, attack decay etc.

Read the manual again now and then you will see.

nah, i think he is talking about the actual "layer" parameter for the q-slider.

in the program screen set a pad so that layer 1 has a sample and layer 2 has a sample. then move the cursor over to the volume range column. set layer 1's volume range to 100-127 and set layer 2's volume range to 0-99.

now go to the slider page, hit that same pad, change the parameter to layer and now if you move the slider all the way up and then hit the pad it should play sample1 and if the slider is all the way down it should play sample2.

peace.

right thanks for the help about the q slider. that is helpful to me.

right i just turned on my mpc right i got mode- step edit. right i insert an event, then i move right to where there is a t, which is presume is tempo, anyway you can scroll through to change to L, and you can set it between 0-127.
i trying to what out what does this value of 0-127 represent, is it when you hit a pad at a certain temp it plays different samples or what?

The 'T' is for tune. Mode:program assign 2 samples to a pad. #1 range 0-62, #2 range 63-127. Assign the slider to layer and hit pad while moving the slider. I believe the 'L' in step edit mode shows recorded changes of the slider.

i've never done layer changes in step edit so i didnt even think that was what you were asking. but if i remember correctly the 0-127 is how hard you are hitting the pad.

later.
