sampling mp3's

I heard about a few ppl doing this with their mpc1k. Anyone know how? Does it require any software programs, if so then I guess I won't be doing this

run your soundcard outs to your MPC ins... or open a mp3 up in a edit prog. like Audition/Cool Edit and chop up in there and sav as a wav. and there you go.

When I am completely broke (which I am most of the time), I will download some MP3's and then burn it to a CD. Then I bring the CD into my bedroom, connect it to my MPC and I'm set. I have to do it this way because my PC is downstairs and by bedroom is upstairs.
