Yo all,
I've found a way to reverse samples w/out a computer.
How hot is that ish?
Anyways I noticed the other day that Psion 5mx's (and poss series3 and revo's 2) use CF cards and my mind started ticking.
I thought at worst it would be handy for sorting out/renaming/creating folders and files, and mass deleting on the move etc.
So after a bit of research theres a program called SoundMaster than can do basic wav editing and fx. (http://www.mdegn.dk/soundmaster.htm) As you can see one of the options is reverse. Plus its gives that old sampler style crunch due to the internal soundcard thing. The touchscreen also makes it easier to chop up (although sadly there isnt a recycle style chop mode
).
theres a tone generator too... kinda-like an old school 12-bit style mini synth
Apart from SoundMaster, I use the Psion to note down lyrics and use voice recorder to take down (low quality) melodies and raps. Pretty useful for writing on (and less messy than paper). there are also a few other programs that might be useful;
SWAPH: This ones a gem for poetry/lyric writing. Like a pheonetic theasaurus but with the ability to add your own words like 'izzle'
( http://www.epoczone.com/reviews/show_review.php3?id=19 )
SOUNDTRANS: just an audio convertor to switch between psion audio files and wav files (also needed to convert wavs recorded by the mpc into wavs that SoundMaster can read)
PIANO: Useful for looking up chords and key scales,etc. and just for coming up with a nice lil melody to build samples around
( http://web.ukonline.co.uk/members/slitchfield/piano.htm)
LoopOmatic: A spreadsheet file that can calculate timestretch/pitch adjustments, sample length, tempo stuff blah blah blah.
Anyway just thought i'd let you know and hopefully inspire you to be inventive.
Any1 else found some inventive ways of using ish around you to help w/the mpc 1k?[/i]
