Finding BPM In the Record you Sampled

Ok I tuned into Soundforge 7.0 and I sampled a piece from rocky song for example. So then I went too "Special" from the menu then "Edit Tempo". So then in the menu there I changed the "tempo in beats in measure" to 85 and input format to time. Then I went too the time stretch option I changed the final tempo too 85 and saved it. But when I import it too the MPC 1000 and I change the tempo too 85, and I play the sample, it doesnt match with my 85 bpm drum pattern. Any suggestions? How can I correctly find the BPM of a sample and change it according to the BPM I want it too be.

I generally use recyle for that. I just sample it into cool edit save it and put it in recycle to get the BPM. If there is a tempo I want I timestrech it accoringly, but I'm never to accurate, I kind of just let if flow and work with the BPM's given.

u wont know the BPM of something unless u cound it in the first place, this can be achieved by using various software tools, some are acurate some are not. You can just put a sample in SF and then change the BPM and expect the mpc tp play it.in SF u have to know the BPM in the first place, then once u know it then change it to the BPM u want.

if u cant get a acuurate software to count the bpm of the sample then sample it straight into the mpc, then sequence it from start 00.00.00 then tap the TEMP button along wth the sample (tap to the beat), u wil notice the tempo number change everytime u press the button, once u start to notice a simalar number appear this will show u are close, leave the sequence to run baring in mind u have the number of bars set up, is it a 4 bar loop or a bar loop? it could be longer.. so u have to know this already in order to get the timing right.

its just some basic principles of rhytmic music applied here thats all. not rocket science.

Ur using the Edit Tempo function wrong....Select a 4 or even an 8bar loop then put that measure into selection length in beats...THEN u will see the tempo. Then take that info with you to the timestretch page and do your thing.

Using the MPC's "Tap Tempo" button works pretty good for determing the tempo of a sample phrase. Imagine that!!

try MixMeister BPM Analyzer to see tha bpm of tha song your sampling (free download) look it up in google

he takes the easy option!!....let me ask you a question do u understand or even care what BPM means and what it does for you?

Easy or Hard who gives a ****? DEMIRTAS1 is the one providing the link, all I did was download the program to try it out. Of course I care what BPM does and the advantages. Dont be replying with your friggin attitude just cause I say that Im cool with the software I downloaded. You even stated in your response:

HHmmmm, attitude...yeah I have been a bit GunHo lately, my apologies, but i will stand firm to say if u thougt about it firstly you would not have dont what you did in SoundForge to start with.

Real Talk!! I hear you sorry, i'm just one of those brainy everything is simple type of guy...hardly do i ever get into a problem i cant fix my self...i need to kool cause not everyone thinks the same....rah u got me getting emotional on forums!

anything i can do for my mpc brothers,i must admit with out this mpc forum i wouldent know s***, so this is the least i can do for my peeps in tha forum
