NEW OS Update

I had the opportunity to speak with some tech staff at Akai yesterday. I asked him when they anticipated a release of the new 1000 OS. Needless to say he couldn't give me the answer that I wanted, but did say that OS releases usually occur six months apart. So we should see something in the near future.

I asked what the new features would include, and he indicated that he caught wind of one of the MPC units getting an upgrade on Time Stretching but he could not confirm if it was the 1000. They all have it already so I am going to assume that the time stretch upgrade will be for the 1000. Other features he caust wind of had to do with better looping capabilities etc...

I don't think the MPC60 has timestretch, maybe they're upgrading the MPC60 OS in typically perverse Akai fashion

I can't see them upgrading that machine where they have invested so much in the newer models (Marketing etc..). But I could be wrong. In any event the response I got was interesting to say the least. He just wouldn't confirm which model they were upgrading but did elude to the fact that one of the OS's is getting ready to have an update released.

As has been said many times before, let's hope it's da lidl 1k that gets the new toys.

the 4000 and 2000xl already have timestretch correct?

...so if holmes can't confirm that it was the 1000 then it looks like they are just gonna drop a new machine and be done with us (regardless of what they said in scratch magazine about a software upgrade).

a couple monthes ago somebody else had contacted akai, and the akai rep said something about a 1000 plus model instead of upgrading the 1000.

i dont know. this is just speculation, but i feel like we are gonne be just like the people who bought the 2000 and then akai decided to make a 2000xl and forget about the 2000 owners.

i hope i'm wrong but i think we're gonna get the shaft.

personally i'm down to read any stuff about the update, but the title is what sucks (NOT the fact that you are posting about it).


with the title "NEW OS UPDATE" people are gonna think that the new os update is finally here. and when there is no update to be found, you shouldn't be surprised when people start bitching you out.

It could be an improvement to the existing TS of the XL or 4k.

the 3000 doesn't have TS, and it still offers Akai stiff competition.

Yes , i definatly like to hear stuff about the update , but the use a different title , something like "Update news" or sumthin.
You aren't the first one posting a title like that , and it get's annyoing
