start sampling when you hit play

am i missing something or is there no way to do this

youre in the record window, say im sampling my bass guitar playing a riff against a beat ive already sequenced in the mpc. but i dont start on the downbeat.

is there a way to have the mpc start sampling (even if it is a quarter note, or even a whole bar of me not playing) when i hit the play button?!?

Don't know about the 1000 , but on the 2000 you can't play sequences / tracks while you're in sample mode . I thought it was the same on all mpc's though .

you can do it but you have to hit play and the white key for record at the same time which would be hard. i'm not even sure about this though. wat i do is get the track down to a couple bars that r loopn and play the sequence- go to record mode and start samplin at the first of the beat.

turn the threshold all the way down, then it'll start recording, play, cut, and you're done.

turning the threshold all the way down wont start the recording when you hit play though. it'd start when i start feeding audio into the input.

you know you can make it start samplin though. you prly know that though.

Let me guess, are you trying to sample (with the MPC1000) an external synth that is midi sequenced with the MPC?
By starting sampling when you start the sequence you could get the timing correct on the synth loop without any editing. Would be nice and very useful.
