It all depends on your preferences. Heres some Acid Pro, Reason, sonar, Logic, Pro Tools, Cubase, Ableton Live, sound Forge, Recycle, Fruity loops. I personally use Acid Pro 5.0, and I love it. then occansionally I'll rewire it to Reason 2.5 and work with it from there. I also own Pro Tools. The one cool thing about about the new Acid is now I can reiwre it into pro tools if needed. I think acid is really great to use, especially since i sampl most of my stuff, whether i be vinyl, to myself on keyboard. Its really easy to use. i guess the midi capabilities as far as seqing your mpc w/ acid kinda sucks. But i use my mpc1k as kinda of a scratch pad some most songs, and then I'll throw it all in to acid and copy and paste stuff, and get into detail inside of Acid. just my 2 cents. but don't get me wrong the mpc1k is a fully capable machine on its own. Unless your in dyer need of timestretching. don't mention zoning, becuase it can be done manually w/ the extract feature. jus thought i'd throw that in there.
peace

Ableton live works well with the 1000, but doesn't have audio editing capabilities. Pro tools LE (m-box, 002) is great for editing finished stuff, but the 1000 won't read .wavs written by PT. Also you can't sync the 1000 up with protools via midi so I'd probably not recommend it.

you can sync with PT LE just not directly with the mbox since it does not have a midi interface. if you get an interface you would be able to use the mbox PT to sync with the 1000

I have successfully loaded SEVERAL wav files created and written by Protools 6.4. You have to make sure that you "Bounce To Disk" and select the correct properties (stereo interleaved or sum to mono, 16bit, 44.1khz, wav).

The mbox is great deal. But you might want to check out some of the new M-Audio "M-Powered" Protools interfaces.

I use Bias Peak and Logic Pro.
I tinker with Reason but never used it in conjuction with the MPC.
