people might tell u this is a newb question, but whatever...

There's 2 ways to do that type of thing, u need to figure out which suits yer needs..

1. Create a midi sequence on the MPC which triggers, ie. controls the korg and tells it what/when notes to play
-->for that use a midi cable mpc->korg and maybe 1 the other direxn so you can play on korg keyboard and have it record the notes u played. If u are still confused google around for basic midi tutorials. Make sure you understand the concepts -midi channel -local on/off and -soft thru else it will all remain a mystery.

2. Record actual audio from the korg into samples on the MPC.
-->for that use audio cables L/R from korg out to MPC in. make whatever noise u want on the korg, trim it up into samples.

3.Actually, the third way is to combine both approaches, first use the mpc to help u edit up a dope sequence, then sample the sequence audio into the mpc so you can f** with it more and have it stored for later.

If you're using method 1, be sure to store or remember the settings on your korg so you can re-create the magic later :).

This probably is a newbie question but I've asked sooo many times about this and cannot get a straight answer.
First of all let me eliminate a few misconceptions:

1- I have no desire to control my microKorg from the MPC. The only time the MicroKorg plays is when my hands are on the keys.

2- I do not want to sample and trim the audio output from the microkorg.

3 - What I DO want to do is to press record on my MPC and then play some notes on the MicroKorg and press stop on the MPC. When I press play again on the MPC I want that sequence to play back the notes I just played on the MicroKorg (Not the MicroKorg playing back the notes as it has no sequencer).

I have actually witnessed this being done on www.samplekings.com on a video when the 1000 just came out. The guy was recording piano notes from a Yamaha Motif Keyboard straight into the MPC and playing it back immediately without the need for sampling and chopping.

Any help is much appreciated.

okay, right, but check this::

i am 99% sure you are at least a little confused about how midi works.
that's why it seems no one is giving you a straight answer. (im definitely not trying to put you down or anything, just my guess about the situation.)

i think what you want to do is called:: "recording a midi sequence in real-time then playing it back seamlessly"... and yeah the mpc1k is perfect for that, its half the reason i bought it. If so, here's how i view that process:
- you need midi cables going _to_ AND _from_ the korg<-->mpc.

-first you hit record (the physical red record button, not sampling anything), play your tune on the korg, midi notes travel to the mpc and are recorded.
-then you stop record mode, keep the sequence playing, and now the mpc will send THOSE SAME NOTES back to the korg and you hear what you just played, now it's looping even though you stopped playing.

So is that what you want to do? See, if you think about the 2nd step, what happens is that the mpc is controlling the korg, telling it what notes to play... otherwise you wouldn't need those cables running both direxns, see?

you are not the 1st person that has asked me this question, and i've helped everyone else sort it out eventually, so, if you're still confused or disagree ask me more questions, be as specific as possible and ill try to figure out how we can understand each other :).

Right, thats great then thank you so much.
I take it this refers to part one of your first explanation then?
I guess i was a little confused about the midi concept in this particular situation. Thanks for the tips bro.
