CHAINER

What is Chainer?

Chainer is a multi-effect and multi-instrument rack for musicians and
sound designers. It's a VST host that runs as a standalone application, VST
effect and VST instrument.

Chainer allows you to stream the ASIO or VST input signal through up to
10 chains of VST effects so you can use your PC as a realtime multi-effect
processor.

In addition Chainer enables you to play several VST instruments at the
same time. You can layer several instruments to create complex sounds or
you may play instruments on different MIDI channels: Chainer turns your
PC into a multi-timbral sound generator.

To achieve very low latencies, the standalone version supports ASIO 2.0
compatible soundcards. A fast PC, a good ASIO driver and Chainer enable
you to use your VST effects and instruments almost like real hardware
devices.

It is possible to load up to 100 VST plugins per instance of Chainer, but
since you can load Chainer in itself there is no actual limit.

The parameters of Chainer and also parameters of the loaded VST plugins
can be controlled through MIDI control change messages or VST
automation.

A bonus feature of Chainer is the ability to create multi-samples from your
VST instruments in WAV and SF2 format for instant use in samplers.

Good looks ToP Billin, who pointed this program out on the other topic.
I've played with this thing for a couple of days and it just seems great
for making multisample programs. The way it works is, you open your
favourite vst-plugin synth or whatever to Chainer and just pick the notes
you want to export from it (16 notes is fine, unless you want it to expand
to another bank). Then you can adjust the bitrate, lenght and the release
of each sample. Then point to the folder you want to export it to (it's good
to name the folder after the vst and the sound like CS80_PIANO1)
and all the sounds will be named PIANO1_C4, PIANO1_D4 etc etc...... After
this, go to bluebox and make quick programs out of those sounds. It's a
easy and effective program for getting the best out of those nice
vst-synths and i wanted to share this one with my fellow 1k warriors.

here's the addres to it, it's a demo but i've got no probs with it so far ->

Hmm... I got a question. How would u bounce to audio? Do you need a hardware multitrack or would you use it as a vst in Cubase or something?

Ok.. maybe I'm wrong here, but isn't asio a driver that audio software supports? What I understood was chainer would have to be linked to cubase through vst or rewire.... in order to bouce midi tracks to audio. I don't get what you mean when u say asio to cubase?

The way I have done it was simple. I installed chainer, pointed it to my VST folder, then open the app. Then you click the down arrow to the left and select "instruments". You should then see your vsts. Pick one. Then under editor click "1". Then your vst gui will pop up. Pull up an instrument within the vst on track 1. Then hit "file>extract". Select your various settings, then the keyrange you want extracted. (Make sure you select "multi" for "mode", and select a destination folder). Hit extract. Voila, the samples should be in the folder you designated. If you plan on using an entire 61 note range you WILL NEED the 128 meg expansion. However I must say that this works like a charm. You donot need Cubase or any other vst host to do this, chainer is a host itself. Good luck

Thats how I do it. Simple & effective. No need for any other programs, thats why I like it so much, just Chainer and your VST's at work.

Honestly I dont even know, but the demo has NO trial period, so it lasts forever, and it works so well, I'm not even worried about a full version. Shit is hot!

thanks black that works for me cbut can you prieview the sound berfore you extract it?

Wassup Boom. You can preview before you hit extract by I think left clicking on a key in the Chainers virtual keyboard. As far as the full version goes, I think the only difference is that you cannot load presets in the trial version(which sucks cause I do have some presets for my VSTs, but **** it tis free!!).
