Help! transferring wav files to my 1000 creates random noise

When I transfer samples (wav files) from my computer to my MPC1000, for some reason the MPC attaches this really annoying digital snap at the end of each sample, not a good sound. It seems to only do it to very short samples, drum set samples really, that I bought online. These samples do not make that noise when played on my computer and if I try to "trim" the sample the digital "snap" sticks with it right at the end of the sample. The noise seems to not be part of the actual wav information, but it's something the MPC produces itself after I trigger the sample. It has not does this to samples I have produced myself. Anyone else experience anything like this????

Happens all the time. No idea why... just transfer them again, and with luck, they will be fine.

The only time I've ever had this happen is when I have "save extra non-audio information" (something like that) checked in Adobe Audition. You'll find that option (at least in Audition) in the save menu, close to the bottom. Whatever software you're using hopefully has an equivalent option.

Make sure your files are only 16 bit, 44100, Windows PCM, Stereo or Mono.

Thanks for the help guys. I think I got it. I resaved the files in stereo and the sound went away!

I have this same problem. If you have a mono sample why convert it into stereo? Is that really the problem? Anyone else can think of anything else that might be causing this problem. Should I convert all my mono samples into stereo? I also noticed when transferring from MAC to MPC1000 takes over an hour.

I said stereo or mono. 44100 16bit stereo or mono.

i have a weird problem kinda similar to this one...i have my mpc 1000 connect to my layla 24/96 audio interface via anolog ins. now i noticed that even when i wasnt playing on the mpc i heard this weird sorta feedback noise...the mpc doesnt seem to make this sound when i plug my headphones in...and the soundcard has never made this sound either...anyone know wut i can do to fix this? does it have to do with my sound levels? it makes this sound when im not playing anything at all...:'( please help ill make u a sandwich i swear

You need balance cables.

so im using unbalanced cables right now causeing me the feedback noise????....damn ima cop some cables asap...if it solves the problem then i owe u a sandwich and i am an idiot LOL...thanks

i went to radio shack and they treid selling me one balanced cable for 15 bucks...its the stereo cable right??? well **** i need 2 and i know i can get 2 for a cheaper price than 15 but before i go buy it this guy suggested a transformer or a direct in box.....any suggestions

Just go to Sam Ash or check musiciansfriend. The cables are expensive. Look in spending at least $22 per cable.

so even thought the the outs of the mpc are unbalanced i have to use stereo balanced cables? The layla has an internal funtion that always me to switch from +4 to -10 for the different inputs can my problem be solved this way....god this sucks and god im such a newb to the mpc

check it might be a ground loop, that can make a humming/staticy noise.

r u using a laptop?

does the pwr plug have 3 prongs? if so, you can get a really cheap adapter to 'lift the ground' and take it down to 2 prongs. sometimes that fixes it.

(AT YOUR OWN RISK... i do it always and never been shocked but there might be a safety issue, had to mention that.. if u get shocked don't sue me ok )

and make sure all your gear is plugged into the same pwr bar if possible

i know the gnd loop idea sounds flaky but my dell laptop made loads of noise until i tried it (even with usb and pcmcia sound cards, believe it or not.)

damn so just getting that adapter fixed ur problem....yeah all my connections use 3 prongs...the sound is very homosexual everything sounds fine until like out of no were i hear NJENONOJSNUI(U*))@&(@^!^&()!!!!!!!!!!!!! and then it goes away and then it comes back like 2 or 5 min later... if you can hook me up with the links of these things ur talkin about it would be really appreciated yo and thanks for everyone replying...i owe everyone here a sandwich!!!

sleepersriddle makes good points. That would be correct if you are in a professional studio. It could be possible one of your gears is causing the problem. What you need to do is disconnect everything. I mean everything. Then start connecting one piece of gear at a time turning it on util you find the source. Your PC might be causing thiis problem but if you are using a mixer that most likely will be the problem. There is probably no reason to use balanced cables unless you are picking up noise. Good luck.
