I recently picked up a mac mini and how I love thee. It's great accept the blue tooth mouse seems funky sometimes. But, that's cool. I am now trying to adapt to the MAC world and I am using garage band untill I upgrade (possibly to ProTools Mbox). I can't sequence into grageband yet because it's lacking an interface. But, I was wonderin if there is any way to take the loops or samples and drop them on my mpc????? I can't seem to find a way at the moment. And, are the samples in .wav format???

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

Till next time.

Peace.

I belive the file types on macs are .aiff. But maybe you can convert those into .wav. I'm not to sure. maybe if someone else can chime on this that uses a mac for music

I understand macs can read .wav i just figured that default for Garageband might of been .aiff.

y would u wanna do that anyways
um isnt there millions of other people that can use da same loops provided by the software
if u have an mp i assume u have a turntable and also assume u knoe how to sample
so just stick to da original grimey chop chop samplin
keep on playin those records

I have garage band too, I don't use the loops or anything I just use some of the sounds from it. I just sample a note or sound from my computer to the 1k.

Ok cool im going ot have to find a way to convert the files into .wav
I want get some of these samples on the MPC to chop up and build the drum kit. I've been sampling records for a while now but some of these sounds I have to have on the pads.

Does anyone know how to access these files?

iTunes will convert files to wave. Also try Peak (30-day demo), Audacity(freeware), DSP-Quattro(Free limited edition on Computer Music Magazine disc).

Adobe audition will convert aiff to wave, I'm pretty sure any good wave editor will do it.

Yeah, but he said he has a Mac Mini. Adobe Audition is PC only.

Yeah, data/bitwise, WAVs and AIFFs are identical. When converting analog to digital audio on a mac, it comes out as an AIFF, when converting analog to digital audio on a PC, it comes out as a WAV. I recommend Audacity, which is free and on many platforms incl. even Linux, or Amadeus which gives you a free trial and includes pretty sweet filters. You can use these programs to save to .WAV.
