Hey guys,

I sold my MPC1K about 6 months ago since I was short on cash, but now I want to grab one again, especially after checking out that Chainer program. I tend to sample and play keys equally and love the MPC sequencer. I figure, great, now I can put all of my vsti's (Spectrasonics Trilogy, Novation V-Station, BassStation, etc) in the MP, use my keyboard controller, and be more efficient on one unit without the PC.

I know that multisampling vsti's won't capture every transitional detail of a vsti, especially on the poly synths. My question is, how bad are the transitions between notes? I know that you can adjust attack and release on the MP, but with all the settings on the vsti's, I feel like sampling changes the texture of the instrument dramatically.

Maybe I should just grab a Triton instead?

Lemme know, peace! ~Jig

To be honest, sampling into MPC then using the sounds is a bad idea cause you do loose all control that the VSti have over the sounds it makes. it its long to setup.

Its better in the long run to continue to use the Chainer as one big Rack of Synths, i use it all the time, and enjoy using em the transisition is more fluent than the MPC unless ur using bass notes which i use the pads for all the time. dependng on the melody. Personally sometimes i have to get abit techie and midi up my keyboard into the mpc then into the chainer to get a better feel of the sounds. pad bashing dont get me far with piano sounds.

buying a triton is more of a added bonus. rather than a alternative, cause u can get the triton as a virtual synth (so to speak) and i get the same feel.

Thanks for the info Penfold. I was thinking the same thing about sampling into the MP. My primary concern for now is to sway away from the PC a bit so that I can be more creative and less technical.

Penfold's right, controlling the synths via MIDI is the move. If you have to perform later without the computer you can always sample the outputs from chainer and then put those samples in the sequence on the MPC.
