I could say read the manual and tell me if you can find it or anything about it in the OS update addendums, or, I can just say, no, it can't do it, which would you prefer?

It does have USB though, so it's easy to move samples over to your pc to timestretch in some kind of audio editing app.

be careful on when you say it does have USB. even though that is a true statement, people will/did get the wrong impression. the usb is strickly for data transfer. "ONE" - I know you know this so this isn't directed to you. but for the masses that may not know. you can not connect anything to or from the mpc1000 via usb other than your computer for data transfer.

yeah exactly. The 1k is basically fitted with a usb CF card reader. That's all the usb does in the 1k. Allows the pc to read and write to the CF drive in the 1k. You would have to save the sample to the cf card befre it could be transferred for editing.

Which is hardly worth it. Most everyone hates using the USB port on the MPC1000 and prefers to get a separate reader for the computer. Then you are free to transfer disks between the MPC and computer without having to annoyingly engage/disengage "USB Mode" on the MPC. This puts it on par with the MPC2000 and Zips as far as ease of transfer.
Ease of transfer to a computer is NOT an advantage of the MPC1000.
If you want real transferability to a sampler, try ak.sys with an S5/6k or a Z. You'll never look back at Zips, hard drives or even CF.

sure ak.sys is better than CF. but CF are much better than zips.
and for gigs CF are perfect.
not so bad in the end
