I am just trying to get an idea of how everyone saves their sounds and samples on their CF cards and how many cards they have. (ie.)samples on one card, drums on another ect. Also are drums in folders suchas all snares or maybe "Kanye drums" or both. Just trying to get some organizing tips.

I got all my drum kits and programs on my PC. I load them onto the CF card and when I get a good beat going that i want to save I'll name it e.g. beat1, save the entire project to the card and transfer it to my PC which has a folder entitled MPC Projects.
If I've got particular samples then I'll just keep the samples and program file in a Folder named after the artist, e.g, Crowded House, david Bowie etc.

I use two CF cards: one is for all my samples, projects, and drum kits, and the other has the latest OS update file on it just in case my MPC screws up. I have one folder for my programs with sub-folders for each program; one folder for my projects with sub-folders for each project named after the sample that I use; and finally when I take a few samples off a record, I make a sub-folder for those samples in my samples folder.

EXAMPLE:

[] Programs

[] Roland TR-808
[] Roland TR-606

[] Samples

[] Roy Ayers
[] Funky Motion
[] Everybody Loves The Sunshine

[] Kool & The Gang
[] Cherish
[] Emergency

[] Projects

[] Roy Ayers
[] Kool & The Gang

Usually I'll save mine this way

-root
[beat 1]
-program
-prj
-seq
-samples
[beat 2]
-program
-prj
-seq
-samples
and then i have a folder with all my sounds
[mpc sounds]
-drum breaks
-misc
- vinyl samples
-drum kit
-808
-909
-etc.

heres my steez call me wierd lol..
root--samples
-kits
-reset
-beats

in the samps folder are samples ive just recorded and havnt archived into the computer yet, or misc samps i working on tweaks ect.

kits is full of programs and there associated samples. each kit has its own subfolder with all its samps and info within.

reset is a blank "saved entire memory" file for resetting when i want to start over withought re booting.. a total time saver!

beats obviously full of beats im working on. each beat is a "save entire memory" folder with its kit, samples,pj data, and the whole shebang inside.

the only thing that sux is that i have multiple copies of the same samples throughout the mpc but whatever it keeps stuff easily organized that way.

if anyone has any other shortcuts or suggestions im down hook a bro up!

root
----samples
-------------kicks
-------------------kicks01 (contains 100 kick samples)
-------------------kicks02
-------------------...
-------------snares
-------------------snares01
-------------------snares02
-------------...
----beats
-------------beatname
-------------------a
-------------------b
...

I create for each beat a new kid by loading a series of kicks, choosing 3 or 4, purging the rest, loading snares and so on. then I save the entire project with the samples, and each time I modify a beat and save it again, I create a new version-folder (a, b etc.). from time to time I archive older versions into my computer to get some free space. and there's an empty project too for initializing the mpc.

i do kind of same as you °Oo.
loading a full folder with the kind of sound i want (hihats, or BD, SN, FX or whatever) then choosing a few samples for the kit, and then purge, and so on...

otherwise i have [backup1], [backup2] and the [autoload] folder, that i use to have at least 3 different backup.
then every second day i archive these folder on my pc.

the only problem i have is it can be a bit long to scroll lots of samples in program mode.
i was wondering if there is a way to go to the last sample ? or to scroll faster (like 10 by 10) ? (also i want to spare the scroll wheel)
