Ok here's the dilemma..i have two synths..one of them has a single in and out midi and the other has single midi in/out/thru.

Now i use a few software synths triggered by my synths for example, (Lounge Lizard). I connect using a cord w/ two midi plugs and on the other end is a serial plug that plugs into my soundcard.

Now my problem is the fact that i want to play my keyboard via that soft-synth on my pc but i would like to still have the ability to sync that w/ my mpc 1k

Now im a broke college student and im lookin for the cheapest ultimate way i can achieve this..nothing fancy..just the cheapest device so i can achieve this. Thanks for your help.

Feedback will be much appreciated.

Take the soundcard's MIDI cables and connect the IN cable to MIDI OUTPUT A of your MPC, then connect the OUT cable to MIDI INPUT A of your MPC. Buy 3 more MIDI cables. You might be able to score a 3 pack for fairly cheap at your local Radio Shack. They're sold as "5 pin DIN" cables (just saying this, incase you're unfamiliar with the terminology, since Radio Shack labels them as such). Once you have 3 more cables, use the keyboard with the MIDI IN/OUT/THRU to connect to your MPC by connecting the MIDI OUTPUT B to the MIDI IN of your keyboard. Then connect the MIDI INPUT B from the MPC to the MIDI OUT of your keyboard. With the third cable, use the MIDI THRU to connect to the MIDI IN on your other keyboard. The keyboard with the MIDI THRU will be the master keyboard controller, which will control your second keyboard as well as the MPC, which will inturn control your soft-synths on your computer. Set the MIDI channels of all these devices, including the soft-synths to different channels. For further info, read the MPC manual, as well as your other manuals. Now you'll have the best of both worlds. Good luck.

just to add another post to my count, let me comment to say, why do you feel the need to make a needless comment about me and my thoughts on the MIDI Literate?

Let me answer that for you...Cause you can and feel to do so...just like I can and feel to do so...

You dont like what I say then dont involve your self..lol...

Penfold, there are plenty of midi literate people here. Must we all write terrible "Midi 101" guides to demonstrate this fact?

Ugh.

Oh, okay, my mistake. I'll go and lift up heavy things for a while or something in an effort to redeem my manlyness.

Grrrr! I'm a MAN again!!

hahahaha this guy is funny and also obviously 'not righted' cause no one was talking about him, refering to him or incinuating anything about him.

but if u have insecurities about your 'manlyness' as u put it, i suggest maybe seeking some counsiling, MPC-FORUMS.com would not be a good look for you.

I guess I'm just a bit tired of seeing your self-glorifying statements in these forums. Don't know what I'm on about? Reread your first post. Still don't get it? Maybe ask Hypes...

 Shit, 1st post?! He took it there
