I'm sorry for cussing. But, Someday's I spend a good amount of time chopping up samples on my MPC. When I go back to the sample, to load up I get an error. All it says is

"End of error!!" It's really starting to piss me off. It happenes to me way to often.

Please. If anyone could explain why this happenes. Or a way to avoid this problem. I could really cutdown on all the tylonals I'm taking for this unnecassary headaches.

p.s

It has also said "wrong file" in the past.

I tried looking up this topic in the forums but I couldnt find anything.

how do you chop up your samples?

heres what I do: I record/load all the samples up, and there all in my memory... go into your sample and set the start to exact start, and then put the end where it needs to be (for the first chop). "extract" this area into its own sample... now go back to the trim screen. just enter number you see as the "end" point into the start point. so for example START: 12345 and END:12345. now just select the END, and scroll the wheel clockwise to move onto the next chop area. Hit pad 15 to here FROM the end of the selected area... move to hundreds to get it accurate. continue like this all the way down. make the original sample is named, that way the following chopped pieces will all be numbered right.

Just put these all into a program, and then save this program (named/mute groups etc...) into its own folder. Save with samples. Thats it. Let me know when you are getting this error message. More info... -Jesse

You know Jessie, I just gotta say that a lot of things have changed around here since I've joined, some for the good, and some for the bad. But I know that I can always count on your bootyful avitar to always be here for me. 8)

"If anyone could explain why this happenes."

You might try explaining what you are doing first. The information you provided would hardly get anyone started.

What are you using to chop? What computer system? What are you using to transfer? What format is the transfer medium? What MPC OS?

I just noticed I had a typo. the error actually says "End of File!!"

Yea your right. Well I'm using the most recent OS Update. I havent gotten one in a while. I'm assuming there isnt a new update. I'm operating a Mac Mini. The files are .wav and I'm using Mac OS X 10.3.5

I chop all my samples in the trim mode on my MPC. Afterwards I transfer the files onto my MAC and then organize them in a folder. Then drop them back on my compact flash card. Could this be causing the problem?
BTW I chop my files exactly how you mention I should Jessiah. I'll try creating the program and doing it.

But, I've had past experiences with creating programs and the program is unable to retreive some files. I think this was due to not having the samples on the card though.

Does anybody know why this happenes??? Or has anyone else experienced these problems.

And I'll have to agree with Knoxximus when I say Jessiah's avatar really does brighten up my day.

There could be an issue with transferring to the Mac and back again. It seems a stretch to just transfer to the computer just to put in folders. Going to the Mac may not be an issue but then you are asking the Mac to transfer files back to Akai's implementation of a Microsoft-like file system.

check your filenames as well. if they are too long sometimes it will cause the mpc to crap out.

yea im creating progrmas now instead of creating folders. no problems lately. hopefully it stays this way.

thanks for the input everybody.

I think the END OF FILE problem is related to the CF card. I had the probem a couple times with my oldest CF card (about one and half year old) and eventually resolved it with a new card. Back up your cards tp PC regularly and toss them as soon as they start doind strange things.
