ok so i'm gonna begin recording on pro tools track by track transferring all the tracks that i've made in my mpc.
now this song is gonna be fairly large as i'm using 2 full programs and over 130 tracks.
so i'm wondering the best way to do this.
is there way to shorten the tracks on pro tools so i dont have to use 130....and even so, is that possible with stereo tracks, 130?

i dont wanna mess this up and im eager to lay it down, but inexperience causes apprehension.
thanks in advance, i think thats the main worries

130 tracks, I thought the MPC only had 64. Either way, Pro Tools only has 32 so you're gonna need to combine some tracks

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam 130 tracks. I 've made full on Drum and Bass tracks, with mcing over it, and that was like only 28 tracks. Good lord. Sounds like your recording the Phil harmonic Orchestra or something. I use the mbox so knowing that you can only record 2 tracks a time into pro tools. Have fun like it was mentioned above your going to have to combine tracks, because Pro tools can only run up to 32 tracks at a time. let us know how it goes. all the luck

You're gonna need a midi interface to sync your mpc to tools otherwise you'll end up spending the rest of your life trying to line up tracks by hand.

thank you much...

i'll get a midi interface at my local store?yah.
i would have never known.

maybe i could just recycle a lot of the tracks for recording as a lot of my stuffis very inconstant, so i can use 1 track for the entire song for all sorts of different tracks on my mpc intermittenly and just master them individually.?
that could work?

.. i'm in quite a predicament otherwise...
as far as general programs go, i was under the impression they could hold a boatload of tracks

its all sample based low fit dirty grungy dark hip hopstuff a la sratch mode . all records besides some noises around the basement and shitty-thrift movies.

'preciate the help once again

You can use 32 tracks of audio in each session, so you have a session for each song. 32 tracks is plenty for pretty much any song.

You need to set up your midi interface (when you get it) to transmit Midi Beat Clock to your MPC.

Good luck.
