the 1000 is a pattern based sequencer unless you make your seq 70 bars (before it loops) then you are recording in a mock linear mode.

When you say pattern record mode, do you mean drum programing with the drum grid (808 style) programing??? if so, nope, no pattern style programming like the rs. There's a step sequence mode , and real-time recording. but you can change sequences or loops on the fly like the rs using the next seq mode.

I've got a yammy rm1x hooked into my mpc, so I can record patterns into the mpc using the drum grid or the arp with the midi fx or whatever into the mpc. it's gooood!

no when i said pattern based sequencer, i was referring to how you build your song. for the 1k the terminology for pattern is seq. you arrange multiple seqs together to form a song. you arrange multiple patterns together to form a song.......

get it?

step edit and step sequencer is not what i was referring to.

yea, I know what you're talking about, I was replying to the the original post. I think his question was on the drum pattern recording not sequencing the patterns into a song. I could be wrong tho.

Once you get one, you'll find out pretty quickly to use the note repeat button while playing the pads to get quantised beats. press the TC button to choose your note spacing (1/8,(slow) - 1/32 (fast), ad some swing if you want a less mechanical feel. The note repeat only works while it's playing a sequence. It's dope and dead simple
Check the manual if you want to input notes the step edit, it's easy, but not as fun.
of course you can just go into record mode and play your pads in real-time. Depending on the setting you have set in the TC window it will quantise your playing as it records.

use the seq button to switch between sequences.
