Sup y'all
I'm confuzed about what the best way to set up the midi chain using my MPC1000, Cubase SE, and my Roland Fantom X-a. What should become my master sequencer? What I want to do is create my foundation drum tracks/beats with the MPC1000 and somehow get it to Cubase SE as midi data for editing, processing, etc for use with SE and getting midi recorded synth lines from the Fantom to SE for further editing. I'm just curious as to what would be the optimal way to set my gear up from a MIDI perspective. I have one MIDI port on my soundcard (audiophile 192), the mpc1000 has 2 midi ins and 2 midi outs, and the fantom has 1 in, 1 out and 1 thru.
