128mb infineon, kingston-problem

I put my new "infineon sdram pc133-333-520 128mb, sync, 133mhz, cl3 and the MPC cheks with it's percentage every of four parts of ram.. everything works till it gets to 4 "system halt - memory problem at 8800000 blah blah..." the same goes to kingston 128 pc 133..maybe it's something wrong with my machine?
I know I am "new", but i just want to get know if my mpc is not working correctly becouse the screen shows the same allert if no matter if i put kingston or infineon..and yes, i've searched he forum-and i'm scared of what i've seen. It says that Kingston is ok..but the allert for it was "
1 pass : passed
2 pass :passed
3 pass : passed
4 pass: failed

memory problem : (88000000)


for infineon it was axactly the same, so?

I had the same problem with my exm 128. It worked fine for a few weeks then one day my mpc crashed, then I rebooted and the same message came on my screen. I have sent the exm 128 back to VST where they will see if its a faulty chip. I've read somewhere on this forum that akai's chips are known to cause problems, but not kingston!!! I wish I knew more about the subject, but I will let you know when I hear back from VST. Can anyone else shed some light???

Are you saying when you turn the mpc on it reads the 128mb memory, then does the memory check? If so, the same thing happened to me, so I just took out the chip and the mpc worked fine(of course with only 16mb). I also emailed akai about this and they told me to get the last OS ver. 1.07. Well, I did it and still no luck. Hopefully it is a problem with the RAM and not my MPC!! I will definitely let you know what VST says, but it might take a day or two. I've tried seaching on this forum about this problem, and, as far as I've seen, this problem has been posted before, but no sufficient answers were given. Maybe you can find something.

my ram didnt work -- so i called akai -- and they said they would send more --- insted they sent 128megs of flash - so i called em and let em know about the mistake -- soooo i got a messsage on my machine the otherday from some head of the parts department appologizing for the mix up -- that i could keep the flash they had sent and that my ram was on its way ----- :D


it was even the free promotional ram--- thats **** customer support!

I hardly want to believe taht it is not the mpc problem..but!- it hapend two times in the same way.. the same moment machine stoped (88000000 part was wrong in every of two rams)... wutt 2 do? I have no idea how to solve this kind of problem..peace

VST confirmed that my RAM was defective and sent me a new one. I just insalled it and everything is back to normal....what a relief! So, you should try to take yours back and get a new one. Double check this forum to make sure you're getting the right one. I'm pretty sure your problem is not the mpc. Try taking out the memory then turn the mpc on. If it reads the 16mb internal memory then you should definitely get a new one. Good luck!

thanks man ... it is impossible for 2 identical situations for 2 different sdram..

i read in your first post that both the types of ram you were using were 128mb, but NOT akai. Is this correct?
If so then, to my knowledge, it wont work, because if you are using a non-akai ram card, than you need to double the amount of ram, as the mpc only reads one side of it.
Get 256mb ram and you should be fine.

128mb works fine with mine. and gives 64mb of memory.

btw, are you aware of the fact that static electricity can damage your ram ?
maybe you have lots of static in your hands/desk/carpet etc... it could have broken both the ram sticks while handling them... (just a supposition).
