I do some Tech House but this applies::
use an external mixer with good eq's preferably some sweepable. Or a filter unit. Even if you're not going overboard with the 'filtered disco' sound, dance music still relies a lot on dynamic filtering and eq.

I'm also interested in some of those techniques. If you're using the 1k, do you have the filter/fx as aux send return or the 1k assignable outs thru the fx to the mixer? I've been trying diff. things as the MFC42 can be recorded as midi in the 1k and was wondering what others were doing as far as house music was concerned.
