Global / Master Level & DJM600 Mixer settings OK?

I've just got hold of my 1K and I'm starting to get to grips with it, but I just wanted to check that my levels are correct.

I'm using the 1K to improvise in my sets (tech house) and I've taking the stereo out phonos (L & R) into my Pioneer DJM600 Line In RCA sockets. I have the 1K Master Level set at -6dB. It distorts at 0dB, and any lower than -12dB and I really have to push up the 1K's output volume and mixer's gain.

In answer to my own question ... having done some more reading on this forum, it appears that the 'fuller' the sound, the higher this value needs to be set to. I haven't played with teh compression yet, but I think I'm going to need to
