in cubase, go to transport > sync setup > bottom right where it says "send midi clock" then check off your midi interface.
on the 1k, go to mode + pad 9 (midi/sync) then go to the sync tab (f2) and make sure the options are set to where you have your midi in/out cables.
go back to cubase and on the transport bar (to the right of the record button) you will see 3 sections on top of each other. click, tempo and sync. in the tempo section, you will see track (default) click on it until you see fixed. this will pick up the tempo of the mpc.
connect your outs from your mp and connect it to your inputs on your audio interface, create audio mono tracks in cubase arm them and press record in cubase. you will notice the mpc start to play at the same time cubase starts to record. (although you don't have to press record, you can just press play in cubase and both will start to play)
hope this helps.
