I use a sandisk ultra2 512MB compact flash card for my 1k. I Have about 6 different drum kits and stuff on the card which is nothing really because there is still so much left over memory on it.

Well today I got back on my MPC to make a beat and everytime I try to load a kit it tells me "Insufficient Memory." This made no sense and since I was not able to load anything I decided I would just organizer the sounds on my Compact Flash Card. So i connect the MPC to my PC via USB and when the MPC screen loads up on my mpc, it shows the kits on the flashcard like normal but when I tried to delete certain kist it would not let me.

Can this be becaause I'm running with the original OS for the 1k? I had no reason to upgrade but I'm thinking about gettign the lastest OS now.

P.S. can someone help me out on how to make the 1k run on the latest OS?

the reason you are getting insufficient memory is not because of your CF card. let me ask you this, did you ever upgrade your memory from the standard 16mb to the 128mb? that could be the problem. the insufficient memory is coming from you trying to load pgm's/samples that are bigger in size than what you have in your mpc. if you did install the 128mb you are probably trying to load samples/pgms that are larger than 128mb. understand where i'm going with this?

on akai's website where you download the OS, there is a download explaining how to install it.

Naw I got enough ram. This problem only happens to me once in a while and its weird as hell. I obviouslly gotta have enough ram to load AT LEAST 1 kit but sometimes it tell me no enough memory.

Anyways since this problem only happens to me sometimes, i guess nevermind.

But can anyone link me or tell me how to upgrade to the latest OS? I dl'd it at the akai site then searched here for instructions on how to do it but my search came out with a lot of pages and it'll take me hours searching. thanks

Go back to the Akai site. Under OS version 1.02 there is 'how to update'. This is what you want.
