Importing Midi files/grooves into MPC1000

Im trying to import a hihat midi (.mid) groove into my mpc1000 and assign the midi file notes with the required hat samples in my pgms.

I usually program all my hats as drum tracks, but thought I might try this as an alternative for groovin hats. Wonderin if any other heads have used this method or if its even possible.

it is possible, bearing in mind the file format must be .MIDI and not .MID
just add the "I", i know softwares run them both but mpc dont.
