Hey guys,

I'm in the process of building a coffin style case for the MPC an mixer and a turntable.

I've got a good case and i'm planning on buying a piece of high density foam and i'm goin to cut out holes for the equipment.

My question is will the MPC be ok like this as far as heat goes? Do they need breathing room to cool down?

Anone had any experience?

Cheers,

Nick.

The MPC gets warm easily but as long as you cut holes in the foam your buying, it should be ok.

Maybe putting everything in one case will increase it's chances of overheating.

Dont forget to buy one of those little PC fans and moutn that on the inside of the coffin. It will help with the over heating a lot... Good luck and great Idea... Pz!

Yeah, I had thought of that but it's kind of hard to mount. Unless I use something other than foam to secure the gear.

I'll post some images when i'm done.

Peace.

Beatnick,

Post those images and the instructions to build your coffin... I may be interested in something like that... My cats sleep on my gear at night and Im afraid they will break a fader or a knob or something... I do cover all my gear with towels right now so i know my gear won't be coughing up hair balls anytime soon...

Hey DSP,

I didn't actually build the case. I managed to score an old Korg keyboard case which fits perfectly. But a a DJ coffin case may be better.
So really it's as easy as finding something to mount the gear so it won't move. My reason for casing up the gear is that I want to have a fast and easy set up for live gigs and be conifdent putting it on a plane.

I'll post pics when i'm done. It's a long weekend here in New Zealand so i'll do it this weekend.

Peace.

Nice one.

Post the pics when your finished :!:

The other thing I want to do is hardwire up some output jacks to the side of the case. This would make it easier for gigs just to rock up with a keyboard stand and the coffin, plug in and away you go.

Nah... The cases plus the equipment are pretty heavy so the mixer is pretty stable.

Shot beatnick, I went down to SuperCheap Auto and bought an aluminium suitcase and lined it with foam.

Only hold my mpc and a mixer tho, no room for the 1210.

Looks dope tho!

Transport only, I stack the gear on top when using. The foam was a bit of a mish to get but ended up using sound insulation foam from a lab.

Will post pics when I get a chance
