How do I loop a loop?

I've checked the manal long and hard for this and can't find the answer. I have a 2 bar drum loop from an old hip hop song that I trigger with a pad. How do I get that sample to loop without holding the pad down? I don't know the exact tempo of the loop so if I try to set it up in the sequencer it ends up getting off. Is there a way to set up a pad to loop when you hit pad and then stop when you hit the pad again?

ok. here's my advice. chop up the drum loop into each respective hit - snare, kick, hat, etc. then reprogram the drum track as per your preference. this way you don't have to worry about the tempo of the original wave.

Or trigger it on the first beat and then either change the tempo of the sequence or the pitch of the sample till it loops perfectly. Use your ears! That's what I usually do.

ya u can do that or u can use tap tempo and then change tempo but datawheel till u get it perfectly sync with menotrome or another drumloops or drum sequence, also i use poly on so if i hear extra peice of the sample the end peice overlap and start lil before the same sample plays i know im off and can tune till its matchd perfect and when thats done i turn on mono to cut the excess skin of the sample and give it a smooth decay, but in the end ur stuck with a tempo thats diferent than say ur original tempo. u can also do fine tunning with semitone and cents, just use tap tempo agin to get it syncd with another beat u made. it takes practice. im sure others have better methods. what im curious to know is how samplist did it back in the past with the mpc60 , im wondering if it was anything like how we do it

ohh ya dont forget to resample using the mainout in record, that way u have a new drumloop in wav, it wont show the metters but ull hear what is played this is perfect if u wanna use layer and ur new drumloop with mpc1000 withanother loop u made

first find where it comes in

such as on the 1 or 2 of the beat and so fourth(no sure how to say that)

next find out how many bars it is

then tap in the tempo

adjust the temp according till how fast it goes or low it goes

and if you find the loop cuting off 2 early or overlapping adjust the bars if they are not correct
