so i finally figured it out (and was dumb enough to try).

http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/index.htm
http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/download.htm

you load the mpc1000ex bin file on the root directory of your compact flash card, and load it as if you were updating the os (turn power on while holding window).

this allows the mpc os to act normal if if the 1000 is turned on with no card loaded in.

if you load a card with one of the .bos files (wp1000.bos or ms1000.bos) and turn on the 1000 it loads the alternate os file.

i am just amazed that this guy was able to figure out how to make his own programs for the 1000. the interface he has is pretty clean and easy to use.

ms1000 is a free utility to setup midi programs similar to seting up your 1000 as a sound module and do batch operations ( like loading a file across key ranges as well as batch editing of program attributes). when you hit the all button it highlights the entire row of whatever attirbute you are on (tuning for example will affect the whole range of keys). i still havent figured out how to do autochromatic. if it can do that it is insane for a free little tool to use live possibly. i will mess around with it more.

and the wp1000 loaded but i could not get any sound out of it. it had some odd options like reverse and what sorta looked like zoning but wasn't really. and it only works as a ten minute demo (in the upper right hand corner there is a timer).

i know this isn't nearly as exciting since we all know the real os with so many amazing features is coming soon. but its good to know someone figured out how to create their own stuff for the 1000.

here are some pics....

is this an unofficial OS or something?

is it safe to load on my MPC?

yeah its pretty nuts. basically this guy figured out a way so that the the normal os is unaffected but when you turn the 1000 with a .bos file in the root directory it loads that instead.

it would be dope if some one could break down how the bos file works and is created. this would leave 1000 users with more possibilites for random free addons from users (just like free vsts, except utilities for the 1000).

like i said before this in no way compares to the fact that the offical os i finally gonna come out. i'm psyched about the new os, but i'm psyched about this as well cause its a major step forward in implementing your own functions in the 1000.

insane...

i finally got the wp1000 file loaded and working but it was buggy. and it stopped working after a couple times so i didnt get a chance to make a video.

pretty interesting though. you load up wavs and pick how each of the 16 pads plays the sample. for example you could have pad 13 play the sample reversed tuned up by 3 from 4.3 seconds into the sample. then you could set up pad 15 to play forward tuned up by 6 from 2 seconds into the sample (you can look at the last 3 pics i posted to see how you change settings for each pad).

the q-link sliders work for real time pitch shifting (hit the pad once and slide the sq-link sliders up and down to change the tuning as the sample plays out in real time).

this stuff seems like it is geared more towards people trying to use the 1000 live. nothing i'm going nuts over, but impressive this guy was able to pull it off.

this makes it seem like we should get realtime filter sweeps at some point. :D

hows your head today? :)

we should try and get the guy who designed this up on mpc.forums - see what else he might be able do with the OS.

I have this funny feeling, a software developer for akai is leaking his own homebrew's of that which is already coming out...

he should leak a Development Kit!! So I can make my own damn O.S !!

I would not be trying any of that unless it's official cause any damage cause by an official release Akai/Numark can fess up to. This is on YOUR head in case something bad happens.

Be careful with that.
