Hey yall, I'm seriously thinking about trading my MPC2000 for a 1000. My question is how do I go about moving my files over? Will the 1000 read all my .ALL files and my .SND and. PGM files from the 2000?

My 2000 works fine for me, there is just little things like using multiple programs, resampling, and the flash cards that I think can help me work more effiecent.

So does that mean that i don't have to convert to wave files anymore? Does it read the snd files with the new OS?

It looks like that.
Sparq, can you test it with a .SND file yourself?

if you are going to buy a 1k now and using OS 1.07, you will NOT be able to lad SND files. if someone can send me a snd file, i will be more than happy to test it. i don't have my 2kxl with me anymore. but as i stated, the manual says that you will be able to load snd files with 2.0

go to mpc1000kxl.com and get the "wavtosnd" program, it's free.

Convert your own files and test them. This way you don't have to wait for anyone to send you anything.

It's converts both ways..

Thanks Lamp. OK, this is what I found. The 1000 will load my programs as long as they are made w/ WAV files, until the update comes out.

However, the real disappointment for me is, the 1000 will NOT load my .ALL files....... Anybody have any ideas on that? When I tried, I got a "WRONG FILE" error message. The 1000 does see the ALL file, but will not load it. If I can figure out a fix for this problem, I'm going with the 1000 over the 2000XL. It's just that, I have some many songs in this .ALL format, would hate to have to redo them all!!! I Pretty much Already have my MPC2000 sold. Got a good price for it too!

Like the compatabilty list says...

MIDI and PGM ONLY!

NO ALL NO APS AND NO SND (SND ? dunno about the OS thing)

Sorry mate AKAI has and probably never will let Cross Platform compatablity be a real thing between the MPC family. Real messed up cause it kinda prevents u from upgrading! dumbest sh1t akai have ever done!

Anyway get a 2000XL and resave your ALL files as MIDI sequences and your APS files as PGMS. As WAV!! Only then can you load up ya stuff.
We all had to do it! there is no program or work around for it I am afraid!

Yeah that was really dumb on Akai's part.

one more question. Which midi type file do I save as? or does it matter?
