I did a quick search, and didn't find anything, so I thought I would post how I fixed a dead pad.

I had just bought my mpc1000 and straight from the store plugged it in, and the #8 pad just wouldn't work.

Disclaimer!! I have a fair amount of experience opening electronics up.. so don't do it if you're not sure about it.

I opened it up, and unscrewed the pad board. If you look on the underside of the board, there are a couple wires that drop down from each pad, ending in a connector that plugs into a little socket... well sure enough, the #8 pad's connector was in it's socket, but not plugged in all the way. I gave it a little push and felt it click in. Reassembled the unit, and viola, a working pad.
Hope that helps someone.

I have a problem with the F4 soft key, it doesn't work unless i push down on it hard. I opened it up and everything seems to be in place the contact the solder points seem alright any suggestions on how i could fix it?

That reminds me i gota fix my PAD BANK B button its also has to be pushed hard to get it to respond so it must be bad soldering or a bad switch that need replacing ,

how long have you had it? did you buy it new or second hand? if new and recent, take it back to where you bought it from and tell them. maybe they will replace it.

You will need to clean the switch ot resolder the connector on your particular switch. Deoxit works great.
