Please don't tell me this is true

So I bought the MPC1000 under the impression that it would be easy to transfer my tracks as wav files into Sonar with the usb feature. Guitar Center told me this and after I looked on the forums I thought I saw that this was true. Now I just got my mp and I have been trying to figure out how to do this. I can trasnfer samples as wav files (obviosly) but that is about it. Now I looked around the forums again and saw that you can take your stereo outs and plug them into your Record in's, then record the beat that you have done and then save that sample as a wav file and transfer it like that. Is this the only way to transfer my tracks from my mp to my comp? Do I relly have to solo every track, then rerecord it, and then edit the start and stop points so my tracks line up? Please say that they is another way...

not quite, but close.
you don't have to loopback a cable, you can can use the internal digital resampling to get the job done. (remember master volume up to zero db).

do you need separate wavfiles for each track? then yes, you would be using mutes to record each track seperately, then xfer to the pc and line 'em up.

so basically, it doesnt do that thing you hoped it would.

ok how do I get to and use this digital resampling feature?

its not that bad realy... its easy just sync your mpc with sonar and sonar does everything for u just set your grind on sonar and will chop at the right place iv been bangin out some fire with sonar motif es6 tascam fw1084 and my mpc1k

the other option is just to do it the typical hardware->daw method, namely track into your pc using the multi outs plus multiple passes if necessary.

most people do it that way i think.
but i was thinking you wanted to avoid that approach.

check the manual on resampling the WHOLE song as a wave file and saving it on your cf card. then transfer to pc, this was also in another thread recently. do a search.

thankyou all for your help.. so I have come to realize that you can't just save your tracks as wav files. SO how do you all choose to transfer songs from the mpc to the comp. Do you just record the song as one audio track, or do you use midi clock and record each track its own audio track? Also is their a way to dump the data as a MIDI file into Sonar? Sonar doesn't recognize files saved as projects or sequences on the MP, is there any way around this? FYI i'be searched a bunch but the feature isn't as helpful as some of you think it is.

it is up to you and your production method/goals whether you need one song/one file , or one song /files per track.

the reason to record trax separately into the computer is to be able to re-mix and master things more professionaly... by readjusting each track as desired in software. whereas 'whole song at once' is fine for demos, jams or raw sounding stuff.

you can save sequences as midi files and open that in software... but then you will have to re-create a method for mapping midi notes with the samples that went with em.

if my tracks are mono, i track 2 at a time via spdif and panning
if stereo, 1 at a time via spdif

tedious as ****
but worth it. really worth it.
