Hi,

I do not yet have the mpc1000 but am looking at it. I only have the online pdf manual and could not find anything regarding using midi cc's to control the mpc.

Can anyone tell me if this is possible?

For example, is it possible to set up a knob box that can control the pad levels, or sample start and end points, filter settings (whatever)?

My goal is to make the mpc be a bit more quick for editing and mixing.

Let me know the url if there is a document that has a list of all the 1000's cc, etc.

Thanks.

the MPC doesn't give you any knob to control CCs, it cannot generate CC data in real time, and if you want to create a CC event with the MPC1000, you have to do it in STEP edit mode. I also understand that the internal sound generator of the MPC1000 will not respond to external CC commands, it can't even respond to pitch bend.
The unit however records perfectly all CC information from external gear, and plays it back no problem.

dang, that sucks (no responding to external cc's).

the only thing that is holding me back is the interface. I've gotten really use to my korg esx-1 - tons of knobs and really nice to alter samples while I'm working on a pattern. I got the esx-1 for super cheap used and never really thought I'd dig it as much as I do.

still, the mpc at $799 is looking pretty good!

Is this the case for all mpc's?

as far as I know the limitation concerns only MPC1000 and 2000. The 2500 apparently can generate CCs with the sliders/knobs, same with the 4000.
Supposedly the MPC1000 OS 2 (which is probably to become a legend and is never going to happen as far as I know - sometimes I hate Sparq who's posting all the crazy BS about this thing, and refuses to let the V. 1.9999 leak to the outside world, as if Akai could care less - unless they plan to release the V 2 with a tag price on it...) should implement filter control through enevlopes (using the sliders) and should allow the sliders to generate CC events.

don't let the mpc interface hold you back. It was my 1st piece of hardware, after the computer, and after only a few weeks I became very quick on it. The things that are annoying, usually are because you are missing a feature that lets you do it quick once you learn how.
