so this is how my set-up is...well...set up:
my microkorg goes into my mixer, my mixer goes into my record ins on my mpc1.
the mpc and microkorg are also hooked up via midi going both ways, but i really dont know what im doing when it comes to MIDI, which is why i have it set up through my mixer.
but somehow, when i play my microkorg while on the main menu of the mpc, i can faintly hear it, and its playing through the mixer.
i know this is true because if i turn off my mixer, the noise stops.
now this would be great except its too quiet to really hear.

the only reason i care is for playing live music in the future, i would want to be able to hear the internal sounds of my microkorg on the main screen of my mpc.

yeah, your supposed to have it hooked up to the mixer. it sounds like your setup is correct. i dont know the 1k, so im not sure what your settings have to be.

i use the micro korg with my 2k and my mixer.

as far as the sound of the korg being soft as it comes through your mixer, maybe the volume knob on the korg isnt all the way up. Maybe that channel on your mixer is low. Maybe your mixer has a feature to boost the sound on that channel.

take a look at the pic below. you are supposed to have your korg's midi out going to the mpc's midi in and your korg's stereo out going to your mixer (not going to the mpc's record ins, unless you are sampling your korg then in that case, you would just connect it straight to the mpc and go through midi or your mixer) but if i am understanding you correctly, you want to sequence inside the mpc and use the korg's sounds. so just do like i just said, connect your korg's midi out to mpc's midi in, then on the mpc, go to desired track, turn type to midi, pgm off, and midi channel 1A (or whatever channel you have your korg set to) the korg's main out is going to go to your mixer.

see if this helps

if what you mean is, the sound comes through quietly when it should be off, then maybe your mixer is bleeding a little bit, mine does sometimes (Mackie 1402 vlz pro)

yeah but he said he had the mixer's out going to the record in on the mpc, unless he wants to sample the microkorg, that's not how he should have it connected. and if he does want to sample the microkorg, he should adjust the rec gain knob on the mpc.
