Hey Guys,

Well i finally got my hands on one! Its in brand new condition! The guy that bought it was told by his salesrep that it had sounds in it, which is partially true. And when he figured out it didnt have to many sounds, he put it back up for sale. And i picked it up. :D

Just wanted to let you guys in on the happiness.. bad news i dont have any midi cables and what not to set it up. Man, cant wait to get into discovering this little box.

Now, with all this equipment, im going to need a nice little mixer! Any recommendations... I want to buy a turntable so i can sample my dads records, ive been doing everything on the pc up to now. To hook up a turntable, i need somekinda special input right? It isnt a normal line out?
The setup is now, a M Audio Ozonic Interface, Motif 6 keyboard, MPC, Tuntable (in the neeeeeaaar future, hopefully a 1200/1210), a bunch of Bass Guitars! a Studio Projects B1 and logic express with reason. So as you can see, i am in desperate need of a Mixer!!!! Looking for something... you guessed it (cheap) well not 2 cheap but something thats good for the money. so far i looked at the alesis, the small soundcraft, and the yamaha. not sure which one cause i have no idea what to look for in a mixer.

thanks for the help.. ps: where can i set the pads velocity so i dont have to abuse them and hit them hella hard to get a decent sound autta em'

Thanks in advance.

all of the answers to your questions are covered in the manual.

i don't mean to sound like this, i would help you but first take a look in the manual. the answers are there.

Congrats!
pad velocity? mode:other press F4
turntables require an RIAA preamp. they're in any dj mixer.
as far as an analog mixer, I got a makie. kinda pricey but its aiight.
keep in mind, if you intend on adding more gear, you're gonna need more inputs. you'll be fine with what you have so far.....search mixers in the different forums- something's gotta come up.

hey sparc,

no offense taken, i have learnt alot from reading your other posts!

Hey fez, thanks alot for the info... hmmm an RIAA preamp? Damn, i cant afford to get a dj mixer too. That would be too pricey. From most of the sample videos i saw, i dont remember seeing a DJ mixer. :?
Ill be really bummed if i have to buy a dj mixer. I am only buying one turntable for sampling ONLY. would be a waste of money wouldnt it?

as far as a turntable and mixer, take a look at this, click here with this, you will not need a dj mixer. it already has a pre amp built in.

hey spark,

im been checking that thing out. But i had trouble taking it seriously!

I thought about it this way though, after listening to pete rock, i love the way he scratches ish into his beats. And i want to but a record player, and be happy with it... basically forever. So i thought i best buy something that i can scratch with too. And from the other posts, i figured those are belt driven so no scratching :( . But damn, it sucks that the technics need something to amplify the signal! :(

Well if you wanna scratch you'll need a mixer(which will come with a preamp) in order to cut, or else your scratches won't sound that nice.
It's time to write a nice letter to Santa.
(BTW I d recommand the TTM56 as a scratch mixer)

I just got the MPC, now i have to cop some turntables, and for them to sound right, i need to get this dj mixer thing. To hook all these things up i need a mixer. damn. this is not a good look.

Well, personal experience taught me that it is, in the end, far less expansive to buy a rock solid mixer than to buy a new crossfader every other month.
Anyhow, just chill, if you concentrate on the mpc you won't have to buy anything at first. You ll get good at it, and that may be a goal. Dj-ing/scratching is imho even more time consuming than producing beat. (I have my mpc for more than a year, and haven't produced a single complete beat on it since then because of a creative block and mostly because of the hours spent on the turns).
So go ahead and tweak your mpc.

Look at it this way, if you cop a cheapo mixer, the money you save will be spent on crossfaders. That Rane is a quality mixer. For the meantime, get them midi cables and work with whatcha got till the dough piles up.

youre right, but for what im using it.. Is it really worth it?
I dont know, its a really nice mixer, (i just googled it), i doubt that its will be put to 10% of what its capable of in my hands. Im a bassist. wont be mixing or scratching the sh** out of my records. Just wanted something nice to sample on, and would have been nice to introduce myself to scratching through the new equipment. But is it really worth 1000$ for a technics, and a dj mixer?

i dont know. i really dont know.... :? damn, im more confused now, than i was at the beginning of the thread. thankfully, the MPC is here to keep me busy!

yeah just relax... look at it this way, have you mastered the mpc, or even close? no?

then get busy :)

(im not trying to diss, just trying to encourage, hope it gets across)
