has anyone taken the screen off the 1k?

if so, is it an akai-made item, or third party?

also, does it look easy to take apart?

if anyone has any pics i'd be grateful!

thanks in advance!

It's third party Display made by Powertip in Taiwan. The backlit lighting are green LED's in SMD technology. The display is made in different colors but the problem is the controller. The display and the controller are on one assembly, and the controller contains a specific AKAI driver. In other words: it is customized for AKAI. Switching the whole assembly wouldn't work. You could make out of two assemblies (the customized AKAI one and an assembly with the color of your choice) a new one, but this would be *very* difficult.

DON'T ask me how I know this !

I took my screen off before

it is glued on with some pretty weak glue

if you decide to take the top plate off it will be attached to it

give it a little press to pop it off

u can superglue it back on if thats what you intend

theres no reason for screen shots really.
