Electric guitars/Bass Guitars

I see that you can get these really dirt cheap on ebay etc now. Was wondering if anyone's used one with the mpc1k? Is it a silly idea?

What would I need aside from the guitar? an amp or preamp or both?

I used a bass with my 2000 with no problems. All you need is a DI box which you can find for fairly cheap. If you do go the amp route make sure it has a direct out.

Yeah, that will work. Just use the headphone output (if there's no other output on the back of the amp) and adjust the volume to the proper level.

I think a bass would suit the mpc better than a standard guitar, but santa's budget is only 100 english pounds. and u can only get these beginner kits that include the amp, with an electric. not bass.

I run my guitar through a Line 6 POD then into my MPC. It sounds much better.

not necesarrily, any Instrument preamp will do. I use one of these in a pinch.
