Swing.

Hey just wondering what percent swing you guys use, if you use it at all.

And also do you just use it on certain parts. i.e Hi hats

I use from 50 - 65, Um I usually use it on everything, but not all at once. EX. Say I use it on a ride at 65. I may have 50 on the snare. and 55 on the kick. and 60 on other sounds.
It just depends how the samples sound with it on. I donno.

turn the swing on a hi hat track and then hold the note repeat and that pad, listen to it, then adjust the swing and press note repeat and that pad..... hear the difference? some people like the way certain percentages of swing sound. it gives the beat a not too mechanical sound to it. if you adjust it and play it right, it will give the impression of a real person behind a kit instead of a "rigid, stiff" sound

i'm a dumbass when it comes to swing actually

i just stayed clear of it and programmed manual swing in. it was nice but it made for several really loose sounding beats. not a problem really cuz it worked for those three.

now i'm using swing and it's funny how cool it is.

Swing refers to eighth notes where in a pattern of eighth notes every other note gets less emphasis.

Like sparq said use note repeat and listen to how it sounds.

Set your timing to 1/8 that is the setting for repeated eighth notes.

BTW I like between 50-60% depending on the style.

The swing feature on the 1K is outstanding. That's what it's known for, and you should take advantage of it.

Don't think that every hip-hop song you hear doesn't have some swing. that's what makes it so addicting.

A little goes a long way. 50% is actually 0 swing.

I generally use it at 54 to 56 on every track, on all the sounds. You can get as crazy as you want, but the key is to be subtle, and let it be there in the groove.

I always swing at 62

I've been doing the whole double tempo thing for the past couple of months. So far I like the feel better...or is it all in my head?

no it's cool. i do it too, often. it's a good trick.

hmmm.. is the swing function making the drums sound more naturally played while STILL using timecorrection? if YES that´s sick, i just use to play my drums as TIGHT as i can without time correction.. that sounds good to.

yes. very sick feature.

the hats 1/8 @ 54% swing
i like my drums 1/16 @ 61% swing.
and to make that slappy snares combine and layer 61% with 52%

this makes your kit sound very natural
