Footswitches and the mpc 1000

I am a drummer. I know it's a shame. I have a mpc 1000. My situation is that i have different sequences that i want to start within songs with my band. The songs can't be done to a click because there are natural tempo changes cued by other members of the band so i was wondering...

is there a way of starting sequences on the mpc 1000 with a hitable pad instead of a footswitch?

Ideally i would use a midi controller, and hit different keys to start different sequences. I have trawled through the manual. i am right in thinking there is no way to start sequnces with a midi contoller through the midi in is there?

Any ideas or thoughts.

All should trigger sequences like you want.

Why not use the Next Seq page, i cant see why this differs from what you are asking about..
