I haven't seen anybody post anything about this one.

Sometimes when i'm working on a project on my MPC (i think it's about when i'm playing around with "songmode"), one of my sequences overwrites another sequence!! with the exact same name... (is that even supposed to be possible??)

Anyhow. It's pretty annoying when i haven't saved the whole thing yet - all my work on the sequence that got overwritten is now lost.

I know (for sure) that i haven't been in the copy sequence screen when this happens..

Anybody ever tried this?

Well, i just hope that the OS 2 will solve this.

yes, i think this occurs when you somehow change the sequence while its on over-dub. i dont know how it does this, but sometimes, in program mode, or song mode, it can happen.

i used to get this alot, what i do to be safe now, i only record in main screen.

yeah, i think i know what it is, if your workflow is at all like mine.

when you're in song mode, i think you jog the wheel a little bit while having hilighted a sequence. this moves it to the next or former sequence in the list, "overwriting" the sequence you "lose" in song mode.

if i'm not mistaken, the sequence is still there - just jog the wheel back.

song mode is a little different than the rest of the mpc os. rather than scrolling up and down the list using the data wheel, you need to hit up and down - that much is obvious. however, sometimes you forget and accidently jog the wheel when you're moving fast.

hopefully this is your problem.

- Oh, that just might be it. however i don't record anything (on purpose) when i'm in songmode, why would anybody wanna do that? what a mess.. I must have left overdub rec on by mistake. thanks.

- Nope, the sequence is gone, all gone :(

Thanks for the feedback, i guess this is not a bug after all.

(or is it?)

However. How can there be to Sequences with the same name?? you can't "manually" copy a sequence to another space, calling it the exact same as the original..

example:

1-Sequence01

2-Sequence01

-This is not suppose to be possible, is it?
And i think that, if it's not a bug, it's a bit of a dangerous way to copy your sequences... no promting when overwritning..

I had the bug a couple of times too.
I have this workflow where i record my beat and then just let it play and switch tracks and record the next track without stopping.
Sometimes when i'm playing with midi i copy a sequence and when i do an overdub on the copied sequence and switch back it changed the original and not the copied version.
I think it's best to press stop everytime you change something , very strange things happen when you do everything while running .
For example when you do enough overdubs suddenly the light on the record button stops working so you can't see if you are recording or not , also when doing everything on the fly the undo button is a dangerous thing cause it undo's everything you did in that 1 run , i had 10 tracks dissappearing by pressing the undo, and also the track changing bug you mentioned.
It's a shame cause i really like to do things while the mpc keeps playing.
Greetz...

Off (my) Topic: you do know that you can "redo" what you just undit by holding shift while pressing the undo button right?

Hehe yeah balls but thnx anyway.
I did not notice they were deleted right away so i recorded a new track.
Bummer.
Btw i don't think you have to use the shift button , it works by just pressing the same button again.
Greetz..

dunno if anyone else has seen this but it doesnt let you change sequence after youve just recorded and stopped it recording whilst playing

not difficult to fix you just stop it playing

What the hell are you talking about? This makes no sense at all to me.

I think he means that when you are recording or overdubbing, if you stop the record or overdub by pressing recored or overdub instead of stop, the MPC will keep playing. I guess when you do this, you cannot change the sequence until you actually press stop. Havent tested it myself but i think thats what he means.
