please help, is my mpc broken!!!

everytime i press a pad or press play or try to here any sound i just get a fuzz, i have no idea why it started doing this and im getting scared ive **** the thing up...its only 1 month old. any sound outputted from the mpc comes out as a fuzz, and even on my headphones plugged into the mpc ive got the same problem, what the hell could it be? please please help me

You've been having several problems with your MPC since you first bought it. It would've been better that you returned it back then, but it's too late now. However, you're still under warranty, so you'll need to contact Akai to send it in for a repair/replacement.

I would recommend that as well, but Rob's MPC has been a dud since he first bought it.

too late to take bak and its second hand. i think it may hav overheated.....but very strange. it seems to work now ive unplugged it and waited 30 mins and replugged again. very weird. it was on for hours before, so i hope thats all it was

what is your output level set at?

hit mode>other and reduce it to something sensible like -12 db, if you keep it at 0 db, it'll just square wave.

sounds like some kind of feedback loop. check your connections.
unplug everything, except the headphones, plug them in the headphone jack.

it could just be buggy.

or it could be a lemon mpc.

see i originally thought it could just be feedback as thats wat is sounded liek, but i did unplug everything and just plugged in the headphones and it was still ****, thats wat made me panic. i mean if theres a bit of faulty hardware, what is it likely to be? could it be a ram problem as i swear i may hav damaged the ram when inserting (i put it in the wrong way by inserting under the flap as opposed to over due to being a bit of a spastic)...but then it usually works fine....

Could be the RAM. Take it out and load some sounds in the standard memory.

RAM can wreak havoc on your hardware, it could be soemething as simple as that. I was almost scared while installing mine into my 1k just b/c of the RAM issues I had with my previous PC when I upped it..cowbell just have nailed it...what are your patches?

how do u safely remove the ram? im kinda thinking it could be a feedback loop tho, it seems to ****, be it rarely and ranomaly, wheneva im recording things. heres my setup: i hav the mpc plugged into the linein of the pc, the pc output is plugged into the line input of a dj mixer i hav the speakers plugged into the out of the mixer, i hav the turntable plugged into the phono inputs of the mixer, unfortunately one of my line inputs on my mixer is broken, so thats why the mpc is plugged into the pc. i would much rather the mpc plugged straight into the mixer, but with just one line input on the mixer, i hav to really prioritise the pc over the mpc. any flaws in that setup at all that could cause feedback?

as long as you turn the volume of the PC on your mixer down during sampling into the MPC you shouldn't get feedback.

forgot to mention that dj mixer record output is plugged into the record input of the mpc, i might really need to get my mixer fixed come to think of it, there could be a problem there with feedback.
