read this forum. that should be enough. we are not here to convence anyone to buy anything. we are here to help once you have it. i don't know how long you've been a lurker before you actually joined but start reading. there are enough topics in here to pull in or push away anyone from buying. it's all up to you.

"sell me on it."

What? And let someone else get the commission on the sale?

nah, don't be sorry. i'm glad you asked but these people here would get on you more for not doing research on your own first. like i said, try readina a little more on this site, see if some of your questions were answered. there are alot of pros and cons on this board. i'm sure you could get your questions answered by reading some.

been on the board reading for about a month.
hobbyist producer with some ridiculous connections in hip hop, never worked with a hardware sampler (only soft)
looking for one with the most ease of use and flexibility.

i've heard an mpc is the only way to go- now i want to know if i'm skimping if i buy the baby or should i save and get a nicer one.

i've heard the new mpc 1k os is going to blow some of the other mpcs out of the water. this true?

Well it deppends of your needs. I'm no mpc fanboy, but in the past three years I had to move a lot, and my equipment is now spread across three countries (5 or 6 towns), but 1k is still with me. Just to say, you'd better identify your needs than come here to here us ravin about the 1k. It's a good machine, it's not too expansive and it's small.
My question to you though is why don't you go to your hiphop connections, see how they work, learn a bit, and then decide by yourself what hardware to buy ? It would be, I think, the best way ro go.
