DIRECTORY ERROR is driving me KERRAZZY

I get DIRECTORY ERROR when saving about each 5th time i save. This means i have to load everything, format my card, and then save everything. It drives me crazy. Ive tried a lot of different Compact Flash Cards, but each and every one gives me the same stupid error.

HELP?

that sucks...its never happened to me on my 1k...

it did happen to me a bunch on a 2500 when i was at GC...it pissed me off real bad then, so i can't imagine how pissed I'd be if it were happening to me at home

How do you format the card?
Try and format the card with the MPC. I saw that when formatted on the PC some strange directories may be created on the card, as well as index files.

that was happening to me but not as often.I would watch the video on futureproducer.com on saving folders just to make sure your doing it right.I also saved my stuff to disk and reformated my c.f. card.

I know the feelin cuz! If you didn't know there is a limit to how much can be saved to the root directory, especially if there are samples that have not been used(pad assign..). Just create a folder, which would fall under the root directory, and save ur progs, seq, etc to that new folder. When you load up, make sure you highlight root and hit the right arrow button to show the subfolder you created. This organizes your samples and I guess makes it easier for the mp to find the data. Hope this works for you, I haven't had an issue since, plus it optimizes the storage space on cf cards.

ay yo ay you gotta sandisk card blood. that's the problem. sandisk is **** up on the 1k. almost every1 on here who has a sandisk has had trouble

I've been using Sandisk for more than a year and never had a problem.
hfinal, take note to what blakkhrist wrote: not to many files in one (root) folder.

I used to get that all the time with mine thinking it was a hardware problem or sumpin fu%ked with the memory card but I realized was that I was not saving into directories properly. Make sure you save sh$t in a folder when choosing the path to save in...use the window button to get more of a global view and ensure your doing this...memory is weird like that. hopefull this is the case and it works...let me know
