Wrong File!!

I downloaded some handclap-samples but when I try to load them from the memorycard in the MPC1000...this message comes up saying "Wrong File!! "....
the files are in wave format....and I made small changes with the files in Peak 4....and then saved them as wavefiles....
Seem´s strange I think..
I renamed the clips to "clip1" etc...so the names are´t to long...

Make sure the samples are in 44.1 khz format, that should do the trick.

Also the files should be saved in Windows PCM wav format, and like stated above the files need to be 16bit 44100 Khz.

Not only do your .wav files need to be the correct sample rate and bit depth, but any metadata attached to the .wav will cause the MPC1000 to display "WRONG FILE" as well. Metadata includes: looping points, invalid looping points, acidized files, etc.

Metadata is usually not a problem as long as it follows the RIFF format. Sometimes programmers do not (like from Didgdesign/Protools) and this destroys software that expects it to conform.

Digidummies has provided plenty of grief for anyone that has software or hardware that loads wav files (including me). Even Akai Pro had to release a fix to get around their metadata.

Every now and again I'll place SF8 loop points (metadata) into a wav and my 2kxl loads it up just fine w/ the metadata intact.

Ableton & newer versions of AcidPro export waves that give me the "wrong file" message. I think this probably trips a lot of folks up
