MPC->Tascam us224 -> Protools?

quick question. i have searched all over here as well as numerous other forums, read the whole mpc manual as well as my tascam manual and protools 6 book. here is my current configuration. i have my midi out cable from my keyboard going into the midi in 1 port of my mpc. i have my midi out A port of my mpc going into the midi in port of my tascam us 224 ( Which is a soundcard / controller, for those of you unfamiliar with it ). I have the main stereo outs of my mpc going into the line in's of my tascam us224. ( sidenate: i strictly use the tascam us-224 as a midi hookup only because the mbox does not have midi ). Ok, now i have the line out of the tascam-us224 going to the line inputs of my mbox 1. now, i have no problems rewiring to reason. when i open reason and hook everything up and assign my channels, everything works. i can record into the mpc and all using the sounds from reason, everything is peachie. my problem lies with syncing the machine up to protools so when i press play/record on protools, it automatically starts the mpc, or vice versa hitting play on the mpc will start protools moving. i need this to avoid having to shift all the crap around after recording multi tracks into protools by soloing and panning each track so i can get it on it own track in PT.
i know it is good to put 2 bars of empty space on the mpc cause there will always be some slight latency issues ( or so i am told ), but i have really been searching hard and still missing pieces of the puzzle. can the tascam (middleman) be preventing something maybe? i come from strictly software, and it was easy as shit to bounce stuff as .wavs to their own tracks, but this is driving me up a wall, haha. any help is greatly appreciated. and please keep in mind, im not looking for quick answers. i have thoroughly researched this, but to no avial.

nevermind. i figured it out. to anybody having a similair issue, i had a midi cable missing. i needed to run a midi cable from the outport of the tascam back into the other input of my mpc and choose that port in the midi sync options on the mpc and configure protools correctly. well, they say the best way to learn is trial and error. hahahaha\
