Why all one thread???

I'm sorry, guys, but the idea of putting all of the 2.1 problems in one thread seems just extremely inefficient. This (OS 2.1) is what everyones been waiting for, and there are going to be a ton of questions and observations.

By putting them all in one thread you:

a) Make it impossible to use the search function to zero in on exactly what information you need (for instance, if I need information or have a question about the volume problem, the search function will just refer me to the Joys and Pains thread).

b) Have a single, gigantic thread (the original 2.0 thread was almost 100 pages long - this is ridiculous for a forum: the whole purpose of a forum is to have SPECIFIC questions answered in SPECIFIC threads).

I don't understand the mentality behind this decision. You aren't conserving bandwidth, you're just making it more difficult for people to communicate and find the answers they need, and you are going to make more people post duplicate threads (which the moderators will then lock and delete) because no one wants to read through 100 pages to find what they're looking for.

Sorry - I'm not trying to be difficult. I just forsee another huge,unmanageable thread and I don't understand the rationale behind it. Everyone's been waiting for this OS for months now, and obviously 99% of all of the posts for the next few weeks will be about it. So why relegate them all to one thread????

by doing this in the start is because if not, we're going to have 100's of "...my levels are messed up when i installed the new os" type of threads. and that is also counter productive. we (the mods) are not saying it will always be like this. as i mentioned, it's just until the newness wears off and people start to really play around with 2.1 and get to really know it.

this is not how it's going to be forever.......

if you can remember, the 2500 section started off like that as well.

Yeah - its the levels thing thats gonna be all over. I'd just hate to have another monster like that original 2.0 thread to sift through.....

Agreed. We need to have separate threads, like all the level issues in one thread, all the fx issues in one thread, etc. We can still consolidate them even during this "newness" period--I hate all the random threads just as much as the next guy, but sifting through one giant thread is just as ridiculous. I mean, who knows how long is this "newness" period going to last? Pretty long I bet.

It'll mean more work for you mods (and I know you guys don't get paid), but you guys volunteered for the job.

Having one thread containing a million different issues is not the best use of this forum, in my humble opinion. It's your forum and you can run it the way you want. Just giving my input.

Anyway, I just got here today and I saw that huge thread. No way am I gonna read through all that just to see if I can get my one question answered.

And my question is this: I just found out today that the new OS is available so I went to akaipro to get it, but I don't see it listed. The newest version I see there is 1.07. Did they remove it? Can someone direct me to where it is?

Do I have to post this question in that other huge thread?

question.... (i'm not trying to flame or anything) do you still see pete rock on the home page of akai's website? if so, that is the old site and you need to either erase your cookies or something. some people were having that problem.

Yeah, I already did that, sparq. After you sent me the first link, I saw what was up.

Once again, much props for the helping hand.

Sparq, about the all in one thread. I agree with what has been said before. Create a thread for every issue: levels, Flash initialize, HD problems, etc. This would give you, let say 8 different threads with a clear focus.
Cause now those lazy folks are gonna keep creating new threads thinking they are the first with that issue. If they see the thread subject they'll (hopefully) know where to go.

One big thread is better than MANY threads saying most of the same thing.

And on the search page there is an option to bring up the thread OR actual posts. It's down near the bottom left of the page.....

So even in a big thread if people use the search correctly along with choosing POST and not thread, then that's what they get. I've used it and it works fine. Brings up specific posts with my keyboards.

Actually...it started off with everyone posting belief/disbelief about the new 2500 in all the other MPCs threads. Then one of you guys (the mods) gave the 2500 its own section and moved the previous threads there.

Please don't lock all the threads I enjoy reading all the hilarious posts.
