broken cf card reader for mpc1000

ive lost a pin in my cf reader and now its totally non functional
can i get a replacement reader/specs/can i install it myself
has anyone else had the same or similar problem
anyhelp would be appreciated

Yes,I got troubles with the reader too.some peoples here says it can be changed by your own.after a deep look at the unit,I chose to send it back to the shop.thats also because it was onto warranty.

where exactly can i get the info on how 2 fix it myself and where can i get parts

If you want to fix it yourself VST sells them for $80...

is there anyplace i can get info on how to install it
and its funnt cause i already talked to the vstguy and he said they cost around $60 i was hoping to get them direct from the source does anyone know about how to go about that

Figure out the exact specs (maybe call akai and see if they will tell you) or maybe the card reader has a sticker on it with the specs like a hard drive does? Not sure cuz i haven't opened my mpc up yet. Anyway, once you know the specs, i'm sure you could order one from any number of places... google the specs and you should find some.

i was hoping some one on the board had did it themselves and could offer advice im not under a warranty but id like an idea of what im doing before i opend it up i read some wher i might beable to cannabilize another cf reader if anyone has input it would be greatly appreciated

so far ive opened my mpc and found that the compact flash reader unit is

a board that is easily detachible and replacable ive since contacted akai

asking for information on how to obtain the parts since vst supplier is

backordered a few months any bright ideas or info on how to obtain

internal akai parts would be greatly appreciated
