I hated to do it, but I had to go back to 1.07. :(

2.10 can not slave to SSP (song position pointer) info like 1.07 can. That is CRUCIAL to me as I use my mpc1k as a drum machine in my midi chain that is being slaved from my sequencer.

So until they fix this and release another os, 2.10 is totally useless in my studio. Man, I was really excited there for a minute. I'm glad 1.07 still works.

I hope they fix this bug one day. It's major for me.

And I hope the mods are not mad at me for posting this here. I tried to use the search feature like yall said, but I couldn't find a post like this.

I have no problems using it with logic pro through an 8x8 interface.

no problem w/ midi sync and reason....

when you reinstalled os2.1 did you reset your sync properties in the midi selection section of the mpc? i had a little scare because i'd forgotten to do that...

Thanks guys for the comments. Yes, I reset the midi parameters under midi sync. No matter what I selected, I could not get it to follow SPP. Then I loaded 1.07 back in and the problem was gone.

So you're saying 2.10 is following your SPP (FF and REW) in song mode with no problems? Hmmmm... that's strange.

Was there anything you had to do differently with 2.10 to get it to do so?

I appreciate the feedback.

nope nothing really different. It's probably something in the sequencer your using. What sequencer are you using?

you could try a reset of your mpc.

Mrclock, thanks for your suggestion. Although I don't like to rule anything out when t-shooting, it doesn't make sense to me that it's something with my sequencer even though you best believe I was double checking all my sequencer settings. lol... The reason I say this is because it works perfectly with 1.07. I am using Cakewalk. Maybe something got messed up in the install of 2.10?

Thanks truvc. I will give that a try later on today. Do you think I should do that before or after I reinstall 2.10?

Sorry about that. I know how confusing the settings on a software sequencer could be.

I loaded up 2.10 again and tried the reset as truvc suggested. Still the same problems. It will respond to PLAY and STOP commands from my sequencer, but not FF and REW. If I FF my sequencer or REW it, the MPC will play back from the same place it stopped, not from the position of my sequencer like it's supposed to. I use Cakewalk the most, but I thought I'd test it with other apps as well. I used a sequencer called VS Pro. It also transmits SSP. Same problem. So then I bypassed all sequencers and used my hard disk recorder because it also can transmit midi clock and SSP. Yep, same problem again.

I also noticed with 2.10, when I load my folder that has my song, sequences and sounds, the wrong program of sounds loads into the sequence so I have to manually change it. That's not that bad, just thought I'd mention it.

But what is bad is that when I do select the correct program, the output of my sounds are VERY low. I only really notice that on one program. The factory sounds and programs sound fine. Weird.

These are just some things I quickly discovered when trying to use my MPC in the manner I have for over a year now. And unfortunately, these are the things that are most important for me to use my MPC.

So yes, this is a definite bug. I am 100% certain of it at this point. It may not affect all software sequencers as some here have pointed out they are not experiencing this problem.

BTW, I left everything the same... didn't change a thing in my sequencer or anything... loaded 1.07 up again, set midi sync to 1 and PRESTO! Perfect sync, perfect follow of SSP, just plain perfect everything. That os rocks.

I'm confused. Why did you post that picture?

Is it going to somehow make 2.10 work on my mpc?

By Jenre Wed Jan 25, 2006 10:37 am
It's working fine for me with Pro Tools 7

I use an old version of Logic Platinum (4.7.3) on a G3, and I've had no prblems. The MPC responds to ff and rwd, as well as picking up where it should if I start the song from any point in the computer sequence. Sorry to hear you have that problem...

Thanks guys for your responses. I wish it was working correctly on my mpc too, but it's not.

Now I wonder if I have a bad copy of 2.10? I am thinking as a last resort, I am gonna re-download it and try it one last time.

Keep your fingers crossed for me.
