Synth pads/Sound design

Nothing like a good sound-pad behind a beat and a bassline.

I don't need any drum hits or bass sounds, but it would be great if anyone knows any synth pads sites that can be downloaded.

There used to be one called Gearshift, that was great, but it's gone. Also, it would be cool to share some of these pads/sounds as well as drum and bass sounds. thanks

now, seriously, why dont you try and make some yourself? if you have a synth, great, if not there are many softsynths that can produce extremely rich pads and evolving textures.. say absynth and z3ta+, but there are many more, some even free

and dont forget audiomulch, the only modular soft synth youll ever need, and free (for the time being)

Do it on your MPC.
With a little practice you can get good pads or ambiance yourself and when you base them on samples you can get more dirty and individual sounds than the rather boring and ultra smooth swooshing you get from ordinary synths/software.

Loop a string sample or other sustained note (in Trim mode, not the sequencer).
Layer it 3 or 4 times on a pad. Tune one to get the note you want then detune the others slightly a little lower and a little higher (or a great deal for a more disturbing effect).
Carve out the overall timbre you want by adjusting the filters, a High Pass on filter 1, a Low Pass on filter 2.
Create movement and sweeps by modulating the filters/pith/volume with the LFO. (The LFO in OS 2.1 is a bit predictable cause of the tempolock, but ité better than nothing).

Copy the finished sound to other pads by the Pad Parameter function and tune each pad to be able to switch notes/chords.
